Saphina is a human rights advocate. She earned her LLB from Makerere University, a Diploma in legal practice from the law Development Centre and LLM from Makerere University. She also has a certificate in good governance from the University of Pretoria. Saphina has five years experience in human rights work including legal representation of refugees and asylum seekers especially survivors of torture and violence, working with Muslim Women in Uganda to effectively manage their social and economic status, advocacy with the Coalition against Torture regarding the enactment of the Anti-torture Act. She is a member of the Uganda Law Society and the East African Law Society. Previously, Saphina worked as a Program Manager of the Access to Justice Program of the Refugee Law Project, School of Law - Makerere University.
